I spent the first four months of this year reorganising and refurbishing my studio. As usual this had a ripple effect and due to some obstacles, it took longer than I hoped. At last I am painting again!

New Tables
Important news – My website shop is now open, where you will find the remaining 100 Days Project paintings for sale. They will only be available until the end of July – so get in quick!

I have also been entering art prizes, and have had a number of acceptances. M painting, 1920s A Cup of Tea and a Chat, which was not shown in my MVA collection, received highly commended awards from the Redlands Art Awards and the Callinan Chambers Art prize, where it is on show until next March.

My latest projects include a large landscape commission, some wave paintings, a landscape and a new still life. 

I am loving being back painting again. The still life is particularly addictive, here is a small section of the first layer, which use some of my favourite colours. This layer has a very limited pallet of French Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Rose, Winsor Lemon and Titanium White.

In other news I am tutoring a watercolour class in support of the Morningside School of Arts through the 10 weeks of school term 3 this year. Details can be found on my Facebook and Instagram pages. 

I had great fun spending a day urban sketching in watercolour last week in the Southbank Parklands – here is the result:

It is that time of year! The local insect population decided to ‘help’ me with the first layer of this sketch and have enhanced this section it by adding themselves to the paint - see the black dots. Perhaps they thought it needed some wildlife 😂. My top tip is to wait for it to dry before dealing with them.

Back in the studio today following a week at Nationals with the Queensland and NSW juniors. I am delighted to share that I have been awarded a Highly Commended for my painting - A cup of tea and a chat, I had the pleasure of attending the opening night via Zoom on Friday. I am very grateful to Callinan Chambers for organising this art prize, and for being recognised for my endeavours. A huge congratulations to the winner for her beautiful drawing.

Back in the studio today following a week at Nationals with the Queensland and NSW juniors. I am delighted to share that I have been awarded a Highly Commended for my painting - A cup of tea and a chat, I had the pleasure of attending the opening night via Zoom on Friday. I have spent the last 6 weeks moving stuff about, it feels like a never ending game of hokey pokey! In, out, in again etc!
I have been attempting to clear the four years of clutter that built while I was studying, put up a new shed ( still a WIP) and sort my studio.
Trips to support my two and QLD junior athletes , along with a cyclone threat (missed us by a scant km - phew) to contend with have all made for plans that resemble shifting sand as they changed so fast.
This is today’s chaos, but hopefully I am near to fixing the new units to the wall and adding the work top. - please wish me luck. It has been a long journey!
It will be amazing when it is finished! (or so I keep telling myself)

Here I am beside my painting, I got to see my friend @Sarahmufford `s gorgeous geometric abstract painting `Kashan`, the show is definitely worth a visit - it is open until the 28th of January.
I rounded off the afternoon with a lovely catch up over a cuppa with my friend @leighlynham.

I am grateful to all the staff at QCAD Griffith University and the friends I have made particularly @stuartmeyerplath who I shared classes with and who put up with me for three and a half of the four years I was studying - thank you!
