I am sorry this blog has been a while coming,

I have been busy with assessments as I come to the end of my MVA course. Here come the 2000s, a late addition to the collection, and I am keen to share the details with you after I share that The Master of Visual Arts Final Exhibition will be held in the Project Gallery and Webb Gallery at QCAD from the 16th to 22nd of November, Open from 10 am to 4 pm every day. I hope I will see you there, everyone is welcome. Opening night is 4-6pm on Friday 15 November.

For the late addition of the 2000’s I chose the first smart tablecloth I bought for my dining table, a traditional white damask pattern, popular in the early 2000s. I still have this cloth as I don’t subscribe to the throwaway culture that is so prevalent today, also known as a hoarder! The Damask was fun to capture, for people interested in the technical aspect of my work, I experimented with light texturing to replicate the damask weave in this cloth.

The china is from Wheel and Barrow, plain white china, as patterns and bright colours are a thing of the past, I think the decisions around choosing a pattern or colour in a world where our attention is constantly distracted by our mobile devices and the constant stream of bright imagery they provide at our fingertips, become an overwhelming problem.

This results in a desire for plain, bland neutral colours, reducing the need for difficult decisions and providing a calm quiet colour palette in our homes. The biscuits are Vienna biscuits with a white chocolate topping and white chocolate Tim-Tams. I hope you enjoy the work-in-progress photos and the detail shots I am sharing with you.

In other news the Morningside School of Arts fundraising effort continues, you can find the collection here and 50% of income from these sales will go to the cause, with 20% of income from sales from the rest of my website until the end of October 2024. Blueberry smile, number 73 from my 100 days project has just sold, allowing me to make a further donation to this worthy cause. get in quick as I will be reviewing my prices for November onwards.

I hope to see you on the 15th at the Masters and Honours show, QCAD Galleries, Griffith University, Southbank campus, Brisbane, QLD.
